my bottom row of rock is built into caves so more water can contact the sand but the rest is stacked best i can and it does touch the back glass without problem.i just don't lean real big peices with most of there weight against the glass.

Does it look like this? First, I didn't know if I was losing my mind or if the bright white from the upper left rock innoculated the lower right guy. Then it ocurred to me the lower newly white rock was just purchased, and wasn't white before.

Could this be some kind of white coralline algae? Could someone let us know?

Hmm. Thanks, Scott. Now that I have a photo, I'll check it again in a week to see if it's something that's growing. If you're right, is there any advice you can give me here?

From what I know, bleaching is what happens when photosynthetic symbiots bail on their host. I didn't think the coloring of coralline algae was attributable to symbiots. Is it?

Of course waiting is an option. :)

    I'll do just that.
