    if you do decide to try it, FYI it is not actually a sponge, more like little pepples or rocks, kind of wierd.

    Fluval makes a phosphate remover for the canister filter. would this be good enough or get what you are talking about?

    well most people put it in filter socks, but i just like it to be open in the chamber where the pads are, i think it works better that way...either way it needs to have constant flow so it can pick up whatever it can in the water colimn.

    VERY IMPORTANT---you need to rinse this product, rinse, and rinse it again(in RO water) if you dont your tank will be very cloudy and could harm something.

    Feed your fish every other day. That will cut the nutrients in half, since you'll be feeding half as often. For years I fed my fish twice a week, and contrary to what they would tell you, they didn't starve to death.
