I am going to stay away from chemicals and do water changes every chance I get. I also thought of using the phosphate granules in my canister filter. Any thoughts on that.

Only if you use the Kent Phosphate sponge. Dont use the ferric hydroxide style becasue the amount of flow in your canister might grind it up and push into your tank and you dont want that. ferric hydroxide requires a slow flow to work also.

those are all really good suggestions but you have to look at the root of the problem, alot of the chemicals are just a quick fix for a few days or weeks... i cant believe how many people out there have cyno with how little flow they have........;D(whats your GPH ;))

No frozen foods yet as I don't have but a green chromis and yellow tail damsel now so I only feed flake. I use ro water from the LFS. Only feed small amount once a day. And I have hermits and snails to clean up any left overs but I don't feed that much. Started a little over 3 weeks ago.

well there ya go, get a phosphate "sponge" from Kent Marine, i just put a Nitrate Sponge into my little HOB filter and it took maybe a week or so and i have not seen cyno since :) i am very happy with the results

and you cant go wrong with water changes
