How rare are these clams?

    It could be bred that way. There was a thread a while back on new clams coming out and some looked amazing. They were hybrids of croceas and maximas I believe. Only a small percentage actually looked really cool, here are some pics of them I have saved. The ones with the green/blue/purple etc. were only a very small percentage of the total "crop." If I remember correctly, it was something like 5% turned out like that. So this bi-color clam could just be a result of breeding and luck.

    Yea, they are really nice. I've never seen one in person, and these aren't my pics, but a while back, I believe somebody either on this board or another had one. Many people didn't believe the colors, but apparently they were pretty true to the clam.

    It is rare I have a guy in Tahiti that can get them for me but only gets like one a year and they cost $1000 a peice.
