I think when the test results come back, and you get the right 'shade' or '# of drops' then you get that wonderful "... ahhhhhhh" feeling..;)

you should have put "when something dies" for a choice, cause a lot of people check anything until something is dead or dieing.

I take it you do not run a Ca reactor....;D You have to remember corals grow and consume more cacium and the reactor does not know this by itself.
I usually test once a week to a week and a half but here lately I have been checking Ca once a day trying to get a Kalk reactor dialed in.

i test about once or twice a yr.i'll be tested every couple days as soon as i get a alk test.i just had it tested by the pet store and alk is only 6.1 and he said it needs to be 8.8-18 i think.so the calcium will go down as i get the alk up.looks like i'll be doing alot of testing until i get it all stable.

Once a week unless I see something suspicious going on in there.

I have come to think if you are in "touch" with your tank you can tell somethings not quite right a lot of times without testing.

Actually I dont, but I dont need one. My ca is always between 420-460. I could see why you do. When you have big systems, like you and anyone else who has 180g and up, its easier with the Ca reactor.
