How often do you check your water, be honest

    I don't remember the last time I tested. I would say I test when I have a problem. I judge by water quality by the condition of my livestock. When you are in the hobby long enough and spend time looking at your tank you will know when something is wrong. That being said I probably check 2 times a year.

    Haven't owned anything but a refract. for 8 months now :D I give my tank the ol visual test, and check my "canary" coral to see how it's doing in the "mine" ;)

    i am the same as bruce. i havent checked in months. if something starts getting upset i change some water get caught up with supplements and move on. never had a problem. i have never owned a ph, alk, or calcium test.

    back when i checked things religously i started to notice that as long as i kept up my water changes things never really swayed that much so i jsut stopped checking it all together

    i test ph weekly and everything probably once a month

    give or take about once a month, and do water changes every two weeks.

    I've been testing salinity every couple of days, since I found that my hydrometer was consistantly reading high (says 1.027 when two other hydrometers say 1.023). pH, ammonia, Nitrite, nitrate weekly. I don't test for calcium, but I don't have coral.
