Just as the title says, how many pounds of sand do I need to get a 2" bed in a 125 gallon tank? I want about 2" is all for my 125. Is there a certain formula or guideline to determine x amount of inches per gallon or anything??

P.S. I'm getting sand from marcorocks.com, they any good??

    Thanks!

There's a sandbed calculator in the action panel.

    Welcome to 3reef!

Don't know about sand from marco but you'll need 1.5 lbs per gallon to get a 2" deep bed. So roughly 250 lbs of sand. Hope this helps a little:)

1 pound per gallon will get you a 2" sandbed. Unless, you have an oddly tall tank and floor space is limited. I've used this formula for years.

The tank is 72x22x18 roughly.. One says 1# per gallon, other says 1.5# per gallon, which is it? Majority rules I guess, anyone else? ha ha.

I do appreciate such fast relies though!!! Thank you very much all!

And I had no idea about those calculators thanks very much for letting me know!

the calculators are accurate, and the 1# per gallon comes within a pound of the calc
