How long does everyone keep their lights on and why?

    Take a look at them after lights out with a flash light. Mine almost turn themselves inside out. All the feeding tentacles come out.

    Are the moonlights supposed to be on all night?

    Moonlights are suppose to be on when you want them on as they are for your benefit. I run mine all night :)

    I can't say for sure, because I did not do one thing at one time, but turning off my moon lights seemed to help a lot. Look into photinhibition in corals. Not only do they get inhibited in growth by too much light, they can be inhibited by not enough dark. They don't have lights on all night in mature. They get plenty of dark. I thought my moon lights were no big deal, but the corals respond to darkness. I'm a firm believer in some total darkness for them, even if I don't have scientific proof. There is info out there supporting dark time.

    Plus I think turning on moons 2 hours (or whatever) before actinics gives a good mild signal to the fish it's time to get up.
