how does this sump work

    us the ball valve connected to it to slow the flow.

    also you loose power when you pump water through a tube(especially against gravity) in reality its probably only 100 gph faster.

    i cant get the valve right. its ether to fast for not fast enough.

    if you turn off the impellar on the overflow after you start the siphon, you wont have that problem. there isn't no such thing as too slow, because the height of the water in the display tank controls the flow down the over flow. And the pump in the sump controls the height of the water in the display tank.

    ok am confused. the only new thing that i found out by error was that if you have the hose form the powerhead (PS I just also found out that the pump is a powerhead) in the sump still in the display tank its acts like a siphon.

    yea it does. your overflow is supposed to act like a controlled siphon.

    try to be more descriptive in your post about what you don't understand.

    you may just be at a point were this diy overflow box is to touchy for you to figure out how to work it.

    when turning off the overflow the flow just shuts off instead of keeping on going
