Sooo I've been thinking... When I start my 180 back up... I can't decide what I want to do.. I don't know if I want to go bare bottom, white play sand, black sand, or spread some green star polyps or Kenya trees or something like that... HELP! Lol thanks for any advice. -David

The problem with GSP, Kenya Trees, Xenia, etc., is that if it does well in your tank, it will take over. If you want them, your best option is to place them on a rock of their own. That would make it easier to maintain control of their growth.

Black sand looks really nice if you can keep it sparkling clean. Unfortunately, that's rarely the case, and it ends up looking exceptionally nasty compared to dirty white sand.

White play sand will work, but you won't have the buffering properties of Aragonite. You may also have an extended Diatom period from the Silicates that will be released initially.

Although it's not your cheapest option, Aragonite is available in a variety of colors as well as grain sizes. That's what I would recommend. You could even mix play sand with Aragonite if you want.
