    Hey guys!

So I went and got some Florida live rock yesterday at my lfs in Denver, and I got this polyp looking guy on one of them (picture number 1). I know this guy isn't on his best leg, but I still want to try and save him if I can. Also, I have this other odd-looking thing on another one of the rocks (picture number 2). Any ideas/suggestions?

    Thanks! :)

1st one almost looks like a dying galaxy coral. 2nd is a sponge.

The first one looks like calcerous skeleton base, to me. Kinda looks like my trumpet coral that's struggling right now, calcerous skeletons with little flesh left on the ends.

Gonna disagree with sushigirl cuz it's safe here :) Hope Buster can't hear long distance hahahaha JJ w/ you ma'am

    1. is definitely some type of LPS. I see the same thing she does but color is to far off for me tell exactly what I'm looking at.

2 though is no sponge. It's the dead skeleton of some type of favia. If it's not dead it's real close to it. The tissue has lost all zooanxthellae.

Buster don't care about me LOL.
I have a favia skeleton on one of my rocks, too, and it does look similar, however I also have yellow sponges in my tank that look just like that one up there. In that pic, it looks a little more translucent to me than a coral skeleton, which is why I said sponge (calcerous sponge). However, you might be right in that it's bleached and that's tissue I'm seeing.

The first one might be a cup coral.
