For some odd reason, some bulbs dont work on Odyssea light fixtures. I've had to touch the bulbs a little for them to start up. Luna

Ahh, good to know. Well I may also replace the ballasts with Ice Caps. I've seen pictures of people who have done this with these fixtures and the difference is amazing. I assume with Ice Cap ballasts that I'd have better luck with other bulbs.

Funny you should bring that up. I've been thinking about changing out the ballast, but havent yet b/c they're still good. Which Ice-Cap ballast didnt they get, so I have a refer. Luna

I think people are replacing them with this one (link). (Read the comments for this item near the bottom of the page.)

Apparently, it's pretty much plug-in-play with the Odyssea fixture.

Maybe changing the ballasts would be a good idea after seeing/reading the reviews. I don't think the problem (we have luna) lies in the ballast. I think it's the saddles and the weak connection/spring/metal that they used.

Well, if you think about it, it shouldnt be the ballast b/c it all depends on the bulbs. Some bulbs work and some dont,as you already know. It must be the way the bulbs are made( male tips). But the review made on the MD link is very interesting to know. Luna

Well, I just suggested a ballast change because some people (in another forum thread I was reading) were saying that the stock ballasts with these units have trouble firing certain brands of bulbs.
