help with some "not so live rock"

alright i have access to bleach but not the acid, what are some exact steps to cleansing rock?

step 1 mix R/O water with bleach 10/1 ratio and soak rocks for 3 days?
step 2 fill container with R/O water and place rock in it with powerhead for another few days?
step3 do i add the salt mix straight to the container from step 2 or do i mix another container with saltwater and transfer?
step 4 let rock cycle again?

 

The acid is available at Home Depot or any pool supply store. Is good to use it but you can clean with only bleach.

There is no need to use RO water for the first two steps. Anyway you are dealing with dirty rock!

Use declorinator in step 2.

For step 3 use a new container with RO water and mix salt.

Step 4 yes, cycle the rock like a new tank.

 

so

step 1 10/1 bleach tap water mix?
step 2 20/1 acid water mix?
step 3 rinse with ro water?
step 4 mix salt and let cycle while also using a dechlorinator(wouldnt the water technically dechlorinate after a few days with surface agitation?)?

 

If you are not in a rush the declorinator is not necesary. Like you said the chlorine will disipate with water agitation.

 

Indeed, and the active ingredient in bleach is chlorine anyway.
