Is 11 acceptable for alk? I have seen many people keep their alk high at 11 but test kits say between 7-8

nope. some people claim to keep it at 15, believe it or not, but no one should be recommending that. if its 10-11 and stable you should be ok. like most things, stability is key. large swings of anything are worse than moderately high/low levels held constant.

Ok what about if my alk raised to 12 today and mg is at 1200. Should I keep dosing? I don't know where the mg I'm dosing is going.

Ca and Alk look good there; I wouldn't do much more with them.

FWIW, it took me a while to get my Mg up when my tank was new as well. I always attributed it to it getting absorbed by the rock until it eventually got saturated equal with the water.
