The hook up can be as simple as screwing it to a garden hose or hose bib or as elaborate as plumbing it in permanently under the sink or in the garage.
The unit comes standard with a hose bib threaded adapter which can be attached to the hose bib or garden hose or screwed on to an optional quick disconnect faucet adapter which runs about $12 or $13 and snaps on and off without having to modify anything permanently.
I have mine installed with the hose bib adapter screwed on to a brass wye which feeds my washing machine cold water and the waste goes either to the laundry sink or washer drain. You can use some of the waste to fill the washer and do laundery but you have to be careful since a washer only holds so much water and it does not work with the new style front loaders like the old top loaders. I like this option as it does not tie a faucet up for hours to make water.
Others use a small self piercing needle valve instaled on the cold water line under the sink but that is a more permanent installation. A better option is the inline tee and valve which fit on the wall valve under the sink by unscrewing the flex line to the faucet and sticking this in between the two. This is a good option since it can be removed with no evidence of it ever being there.

There are lots of other options too from simple to complex but most only involve a few minutes and less than $10-$15.
If you want to automate the process you would need an ASOV or autoshutoff valve and a float valve or solenoid and switches but that can all be done at a later date.

Here are photos of a few of the options:
    PLUMBING ACCESSORIES FOR RO

The "feed water adapter" is the one that fits between the wall valve and the cold water supply line. The "garden hose adapter" is what it comes with stock.
If you are hooking up permanent the drain saddle installs in the P trap under the sink so the waste can be fed directly to sewer.

The ASOV is found on this page here if you want to automate things:

Just recieved my RO unit yesterday. Hooked it up. It is great all except thay back it with thousands of penuts and fogot to include my TDS meeter. They are sending it to me now though and it dosent affect the output. I have filled up 45 gallons and topped off all my tanks. I would go with them. Built to order.

My plan is a permanent hookup mounting the unit in my basement using the piercing valve in my basement right under my tank(i have pvc water line access there),i plan to run the wastewater to my sump pump, and run the ro/di supply line through my floor using the shut valve supplied,so basically it will just be stubbed through the floor with enough line to fill my wc bucket, then shut off valve and coil the line and hang it behind my tank when not in use"out of sight" Will this work,or do i need to shut water off before it enters the unit when not in use???Or can a unit have incoming pressure on it all the time??

grinder37, to do that you will need the ASOV and check valve so the units shuts off both the good and waste when you shut the ball valve off.
I leave all my RO and RO/DI units under pressure when not in use, manufacturers like that as it keeps the filters wetted and there is less chance of contamination that way.
One thing you will want to think about is RO/DI units make water slowly so filling your buckets etc. will take time. Get yourself a digital kitchen timer and after the first few times you will have a good idea on how long it takes to fill a bucket so set the timer accordingly. I use one of those timers when I am brewing beer, I wear it on my belt like a pager or cell phone so I don't accidentally boil over or run a bcuket over. The other option would be to install a float valve in the bucket and let it shut off automatically.

Goku, I made the switch from the Typhoon III to a Spectrapure MaxCap and my DI usage went from 150 gallons per refill to 830 gallons per refill on the very first cartridge. No comparison and I thought the Typhoon was a good unit too, in fact if you go back and look at many of my posts and threads 6 or 8 years ago on all the reef forums you wil find I once recommended it highly.

Thanks AZ,i didn't think about the wastewater shut off.Since i only have 2 small tanks,i'll only be needing 5 gal or less at a time for wc's,so lugging a bucket from the basement is no biggie,i really don't have anywhere under my sink to put,and my bathroom sink is a pedestal. So,i'll just setup a little station in the basement. Thanks so much for all of your guidence!!
