yeah...you need to get that back in line and cross ur fingers. This is the reason I use IO. (which was brought up in another thread) I like having control of my own alk without having to worry about the salt having a ton. With this being said, you absolutely have to be careful when you are changing an additive.

    So sorry. :-(

Perhaps if you stabilize you magnesium at 1250-1300 you will have less dramatic swings in alk.

I have lost good pieces to the same circumstances, fond memories of my Cali tort. :-(

Has anyone tried the white vinegar trick to lower the ph before? If so how did it work for you?

Softies get a bad wrap for being SPS killers from the leathers ability to restrict calcium growth. It's pretty much a chemical effect that leathers have. Although I've seen both corals together, my personal opinion is to have leathers in an all softy aquarium, (Which I like do the look of) or have Sps mixed with mushrooms only, since other softies can grow very quickly and take valuable light space. (such as kenyas or xenias.)

My PH is good now. I was at my LFS telling one of the guys I know there what happened and he told me I should have used vinegar to lower it.

For me I don’t like to put random stuff in my tank. So I was just checking to see if anyone has tried it.

1 more add to the list
