    Brand New Bulb and no phosphate removal yet, got media chamber coming.

    Hmmm... well I know a 5500k bulb would work but a 6500-7200k may work better. :p Did you say it was 10 inches over the chaeto? Did you try lowering it a bit?

    main causes of chaeto death can be sudden increases in alk or even calcium. not sure why that is, but it seems to have a very noticeable effect on it. heat is another culprit. it can handle lulls in nutrients pretty well, can't have an absence of them forever, but if you have any nuisance algae in there that will be enough to fuel the chaeto.

    any noticeable changes in alk, calcium or heat recently?

    hey john,
    i bought that chaeto from you and we exchanged a few emails about it. no fluctuations that i'm aware of. i'm about to change 15 gallons so we'll see if that helps.
    i put some in my DT under t5 10000k, so i'll let u know if it grows there. i've lost 80% of what u sent me. :(
    not ur fault of course.
