tinfury, poke him with your finger and tell me if the pinchers hurt...lol... in fact, set up a camera so we can all watch your reaction! i'd also like to see a mantis shrimp in action, but that's another post another time...

If you ever have to ask what type of crab is this then throw it out not worth the risk. I told a guy to do this yrs ago with a shamed faced crab came in larvae with L/Sand or a coral ? It was months later when he say it the first time and had it in his net. I told to chunk it he though that was cruel LOL well next time he saw it it had devastated his 500 gallon reef tank ate a few very expensive fish also..And then he tossed..

Twan013: Yea he did actually pinch me.... and it was pretty painfull. I haven't been bitten by a crab since I was a child. He ate a clam I found so I took him out of the tank and put him in with my mantis shrimp tank. The Mantis is eating him slowly one foot at a time. :( I actually have a video of my mantis in action taking down a fish. I'll put it up on my Hi5 video's so you can see it. :)

oliesminis: I'm not sure where it really came from. My tank broke!!!!!! And so I'm starting over. I some of my sand from about 3Meters below the surface in a awesome reef cove I go to sometimes. I got some more from a sand bar under the water and I got some from right up off the beach. He could have been from any of the three places. If I had to make a guess. I'd think that he came in from out of the sand I got from the deeper area.
