depends on the type of tangs he currently has in his tank...if he has some that are in the same family....then his chances of survival will go down...also depends on his current fish temperment.

Unfortunately, I know the tangs minimum requirements.. If I didn't I'd be clueless and keep it. He is so cool I just might get a bigger tank for him if my friend doesn't take him. My LFS is going to get an ear full from me.. Although half the blame is on me for not being able to identify a fish I'm purchasing.

Ugh, that sucks!! I'd be so disappointed.

What tangs does your friend have? And how big is his tank?

He has several. Yellow, Hippo, and I think a chevron tang or something like that.

    He has a 240.

Yeah I'm disappointed.. The cool little guy was the first one that caught my eye as I entered the LFS and he was not cheap either. Sucks.

I would *think* he would be ok adding that tang to his current mix, and in a tank that large, but I don't know all that much about mixing tangs.

Can you return the lil' guy to the LFS? Seems since they mislabeled they should be able to refund you actual money, not just a store credit or something.

Yeah, I'm going to give them a call after work. They should make it right. Even store credit will be worth it since they have amazing coral selection.

    Better pic

I took a very close look and he does not have the spike.. Could it be that he is too young and has not developed one yet? There is a visible line at the base of the tail but not a bump or spike per se.

still going with my guess. Probably hasnt developed it or its just not super visible at this time. Sometimes the tail spike is hard to point out on certain tangs cause its colored in the color of the area. Definitely a tang though.
