How's everyone tonight. Just wanted to say hello. I am new to reef aquariums and more than likely will be asking a lot of questions. So I just want to say thanks now in case I get carried away and forget to later.

Right now I have a 20g hex with a clown live rock and a leather frag. But my amazing wife got me a 110g oceanic. So now just a matter of time and saving to set it up.

That's the way to do it! Do you have plans for a sump?

I have a 55g that I had some jack dempys in from years ago. So I was thinking of using that. Not sure on how to plumb anything yet still need to do my research. One quick question some one at my fish store said they run a uv sterilizer and not a skimmer. Didn't say why. Any ideas?

Not sure how that would work. I've never used UV but it seems out of the norm to not run a skimmer.

The sterilizer and the skimmer do two different things so not sure on their logic. I would say a skimmer is a must for having coral.

Will a uv kill beneficial bacteria, pods I guess is it something you would run?

An UV is only going to affect those organisms that move through the water column. The UV will not adversely affect pods or beneficial bacteria populations. A skimmer is more important and does more for a system than a UV in my opinion. Everyone tweaks their system a little differently, no skimmer probably works for him.
