Most likely, they will want to retreat into a cave with their food so don't try to corral them into an open area of your tank. The fish swimming by might make them too nervous to eat.

Ok, found one of the new Harlequins out on a walkabout this evening upon returning home from work...

Big oohs and ahaas from girls who saw for first time.

    We all are pretty impressed:

This ones mate is a bit shy about coming out yet. Periodically catch glimpses of her in rock crevices...has distinctly "bluer" shades and tones...

    ;D

If you look closely at rock in foreground you can see it wrapped in some fishing line that I had tied a small sand star to this morning...it is gone? - wonder where it went? --- the shrimp is looking for another.

(My Flame wrasse just has to get in just about any picture I take...:p )

Well when the find it and pounce on the starfish its right side up.. But after they bite/sting or inject it with venom to send it in to a coma then they flip it and off they trot to the cave with trophy in tow.

Yep, exactly what happened moments ago, after last post...

Expect I will not see them again until this meal is gone

Or do they wander about tank when not feeding?

Sorry about questions...I know absolutly nothing about these creatures, except to feed them starfish...and I want them content and happy, but would like to see them now and then.

+2 Mine stood guard over their food until it was completely gone. Also, they aren't big wanderers so if they've chosen a den that is not easily viewable, you might only see them when they're hungry and hunting.

Ok, that does it...next "meal" is going to get tied down well in an observable (but protected) area. (and where I can get them used to eating asterinas as appetizers...and be able to see them. :-/
