So I just got a couple "checkers" form hanna and I must admit im rather pleased with them, plus they seem to be very very reliable according to online reviews..... anyway all this to tell you my results... using the alk checker i got a reading of 190 ppm thats 10.62 dkh, should i try and bump this up to 11.2 (redsea reading) or is this already a good value? where im most surprised is my Po4 reading, I got a results of 0.00 (redsea showed same result).... i mean i know i run macro biopellets and have a powerful skimmer but I always thought my po4 floated around the 0.01-0.1mark.... if this is confirmed by you folks it would mean i could consider feeding a little heavier (if so ill be increasing to one ice cube of food a day rather than half over a period of 7 weeks. I.E ill feed one cube once a week, then two, then three, till eventually ill be feeding one cube a day split over two feedings) If i can do this I would feel more comfortable in regards to feeding my fish, I mean you folks know I take the dietary needs of my animals very seriously and though they are not "skinny" half a cube was a little "just"....especially sine 90% of that half cube ended up in the stomach of my hippo tang...so theoretically the more food floating around the higher the chances all the other tank mates can grab a bite. hopefully this will bring a my po4 up just a little.... what do you folks think? "if it aint broken why fix it?"
