i drill holes in mine so the bacteria can get in and out easy so it doesn't become a nitrate factory

I am getting ready to order some sand I really dont know what to get I want black sand but there are 3 that I am looking at one is a larger sand ( http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produ...thumbpage=1&list=2754,2755,2756,7163&breeds=1 ) and I dont know if the gobies will like it. One is sand like ( Aquarium Substrate for Marine Aquariums: CaribSea Instant Aquarium Substrate Tahitian Moon ) but its not live sand I know I dont need live sasnd but I am using dry rock and I have seen that its not all that good of keeping the PH stable. The 3rd one is sand like and its live ( http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produ...5494&thumbpage=1&list=4221,4220,5494&breeds=1 ). I am need of some input I know there are people out there that have use all three.

I have heard that the Tahitian Moon will stick to magnets which could lead to a scratched tank , but I have no personal experience with it .

In my (not so) professional opinion, live sand is kind of a waste of time. It'll become live sand by itself, it always has for me! especially if you throw some LR rubble in there. But I'm excited about this tank! I love pico tanks! What's the total water volume? And I've heard the moon sand or whatever sticks to magnets as well.
    Happy reefing!

I got some live sand I will be using dry rock. I found some that I liked ( Bio-Activ Live Aragonite Reef Sand - Black Beach - 10 lb ) and the tank is 5.1g empty so I am thinking 4 to 41/2g I will see I got everything on order and I will start it up!
