That was the other thing that was concerning me was the heater. It will cause the acrylic & silicon to flex, causing possible separation. Remember 1 gal of water is 8 lbs, plus gravel or rock. I would use glass..

You could mount the switch on the top where you siliconed. Have it nice and flush with the top. Either have it red to match the top or what I would do is make it look like the screw on top & paint it silver.

I think I'm going to finish up the lid and use it the way it is temporarily. I don't think it will be long before I redo the bottom sans acrylic.

I already drilled the hole for the button I have now and I'm ok with it. I agree there would be cooler ways to do it, and if I made another one I would probably try, but for now I'm happy with what I have. the button I bought is black.

I didn't get to work on this at all on the weekend. I spent 12 to 13 hours a day on Saturday and Sunday working on the house! :hammer: Good thing for breaks during work! LOL

Well, I got the lights worked out. It looks a little cheesy, but it works well. I had some perf board laying around that I could use to mount the LEDs and resistors. Only using 4 LEDs even though I bought 10, but I don't wanna blind the fish ;)

I wanted it all to fit up inside the lid and not be visible to someone looking inside once completed. I tried to get this next picture as a profile view to see what it looks like. You can just see the tips of the LEDs hanging below the lip of the lid.

I don't think the switch looks too bad lol

And now with the lights turned on...
