I have green star polyps in my 75 gallon with 4 t5 ati bulbs. They have been in the tank about 8 months and are placed close to the bottom of the tank. They don't open all the way. Do they need more light? Should I move them closer to the light? I don't want to kill them.

Do they have any algae growing on them?
They're a little picky with the water quality but if there is algae growing on them it's ok to brush them off gently with a soft tooth brush. If that was the culprit they'll open back up after a day or two.

Make sure they have enough flow, they like a good flow. I bought some about a month ago and they are growing like crazy..

+1^^ to both replies. I have found that mine close up randomly for brief periods and then open back up, I think it may be if a fish picks at them. They typically do not require a lot of light.

No algae. My water quality is good. My sps are growing well. Must be not enough flow. Thanks for the help.

That may be the problem. GSP tend to like "dirtier" water than SPS, so it just may not be getting enough nutrients.

^^ if this is the case, you can try spot feeding them
