I just purchased a green pavona (at least that is my ID for it) from the LFS I work at thinking it was a massive green monti cap (was still in the bag). Does it have any special needs? This is not my first sps. If I had known it was a pavona I would have researched it more first.

I estimate this coral to be 5"-6" tall, 4"-5" wide, and about 2" deep. The entire rock that it is on is also completely encrusted. The rock is about 2"x3". How much is this piece worth? An average price is fine. I just want to know if I over paid for it. After I get some estimates I will post how much I paid for it.

That's a pretty big piece of Pavona right there. I would pay up to 75 for it.

Definitely pavona. It's a boarderline SPS/LPS to me (yes, technically it's SPS, I know). They like lower light and med flow. If it looks like it needs a shave, it's happy.

They're a bit of a slow grower, and that's a big piece. I'd pay ~90 for it as a far price. 50-60 would be steal.

    What about $25. ;D

I will lower it a little bit then. I don't want to burn it like I did with my Acropora echinata.

Then I'd be jealous. I paid 20 for a frag of an orange one the size of two golf balls from a local reefer.

    Nice steal.

Mine likes high light and high flow. Nothing really special for it!

    Congrats! That's a beauty!

I have both green and brown and they are both on top of a rock about 4" from the surface. I have 8x 54 watt T5'S and they are both doing great and have for the last 2 years.

Best way to know if its happy is if its fuzzy its happy, if its not move it till it is.
