I've just seem a lot of distributors not carry them as frequently and when they do get them they sell real fast. Demand is high or supply is low. :)

I haven't realized. My LFS's always have them in stock. I guess it just depends on where everyone lives :)

They are a rare bubble tip as it is, and I am sure there has been unsustainable harvesting (like everything else), which would make them even harder to find than normal. It helps keep cost down and supply up when people propagate tank clones, like this one is.

I was going to say that. Wouldn't it be easier for the hobbyist or distributor to propagate them themselves? It's also better for the environment. IMO it's better that way.

It is, it just takes time to grow out corals/inverts to a large enough colony to frag. It's much easier and cheaper to go to a reef and harvest. Unfortunately, we just do so with unsustainable yields (see the cod population, Gulf grouper population and soon to be tuna population). As time goes on, and people learn, more sustainable practices will be implemented.

    That's true.

And I hope you're right about people realizing what they're doing to the oceans soon :-[

I've sold 6 from my tank in the last week. $50 each for 4 of them and $70 each for two big ones. $40 is a great deal around here. $100 in lfs for a smallish one

In australia we have to pay anywhere up to $80 for anemones.... Over here seems like a total ripoff compared to anywhere else. The ones here dont look anywhere near as nice as some overseas :p
