    Just a few suggestions...

    1. Use a container that is wide and less tall then a 5g bucket. You want surface area.
    2. dump the airstone and simply use a 1/4" Stainless Steel nut to hold the airline down. Several species of copepods are attracted to movement and will amass on the stone until the bottom ones are killed. I've seen this all to often.
    3. Use a dark color culture vessel (green is fine, just not white and def. not clear)
    4. get yourself a small piece of 50 micron filter mesh. www.smalllparts.com sells 6x6 square cheaply. Find Micron Mesh At SmallParts.com - use that mesh to filter the water you plan on getting rid of. If other detritus gets caught in it, take the entire lot and dump it into a mason jar, fill to the rim and let the detritus settle out. Then simply pour our the water slowly as to avoid disturbing the detritus.

Like some one said, the showe/dish scrunchies are great. I find sponges to be a bit too fine. I actually used Aquaclear replacement sponges at times and even they are a bit small IMO..

If for the same culture not a wise move. Amphi's will predate on the pods. It's actually one of my past times....watching "pod" wars in my fuge.

Sg shouldn't be much of an issue, most don't mind swings.

Do not add a PH. Air is all you need.

I swapped out those sponges for bath poof's. I hope I never have to say poof again.

PODS came in today. Came on two sponges and some plant matter. I wasn't sure what to do, so I just dumped the whole lot in my bucket. So now I got stringy plant stuff in my bucket. I'm thinking that won't matter a twinkle and I'm not too concerned w/having the supplier's water in my bucket.

Bucket is set to 79 degrees.

Hopefully, I'll get to see some POD warfare as mentioned earlier. YAY!

It was kind of just existing... and then today I noticed an explosion in the population!

So I might try putting some in the DT tonight ;D

Month or two of this and then I'm going to get that mandarin I've been wanting. ;D;D

I haven't changed the POD water, if that's what you mean... I'm thinking it will be rather rare for me to do this ;)

But I can smell it... it's not exactly unpleasant... not exactly pleasant... it just kind of has its own distinct odor.
