I wish I knew for ya :( IIRC you don't need a lot of flow.

I would suspect that if you weighed down the airstone so it was near the bottom that would provide enough flow

    IIRC?

OK, thanks. I will do it this way and see if that works. I hope to set this up next weekend (not this one). Need to get the supplies.

I would use an aquarium sponge as most kitchen sponges contain an antibacterial agent.

The airstone will be plenty of flow. Pods will reproduce faster with the slower flow as well.
As for water changes, just slip a filter sock over your gravel vac. Problem solved.
A regular kitchen sponge will be fine. I use the ones that look like miniature versions of those big poofy things women love for the shower, if that makes any sense. Even if you did use something that had antibacterial agents, it wouldn't matter. There is no need to cycle the pod buckets or anything like that anyways.

The "Shower Puffs" are where it's at. I have filter foam and puffs in my pod bucket, and the puffs hold WAY more pods in them. They can get really deep into them quickly.

I have a little pre set 75 degree heater and an air stone.

I didn't have to buy pods, just tossed in 1/2 lb of live rock and about a cup of sand from my fuge. In 2 weeks I went from virtually nothing living in it to 100+ visible pods in a few ounces of water. It's crazy how fast they breed.

You'll want to feed with DT phyto 2x a week, a reef supplement helps (they're crustaceans, after all) I just rinse my syringe in it after adding supplements to my DT. an mL or 2 of each.

I've heard rotifers are also great food, haven't tried those.

I was able to do my WC today after all. So I setup my POD farm.

My sponges float. (They're of the grout spreading variety - the thought is avoiding the antibacterial - just because). Is this fine?

This is a 5 gallon bucket that I washed thoroughly and rinsed a lot.

And for those that are curious, here is a bonus shot. My little fish station. I will actully be moving this POD farm to my new little fish room. http://www.3reef.com/forums/general-reef-topics/access-panels-need-ideas-66083-2.html#post632326
