so if i used a mg 12 on the overflow with it reduced to 1 inch drains i would have to put a ball valve to make it quiet?

Them mag 12 are not very energy efficient I would go with another pump like a waterblaster

those things are a little pricey but maybe in the long run it would save me.

any other pumps that are energy efficient?

I love my little giant 3. Has great head pressure and is super quiet.

Little giant 3 is only like 1200-1300gph. And can be throttle back with a valve. Mags don't like to be throttled back in my experience.

you may loose a little bit of flow... but i doubt it will be noticable... i have the 1500 on my 75 gallon... the two pipes are strictly for redundency... you will only get like 900 gallons of flow maybe a grand. my pump at 4 foot is pushing 9and change and ive only got a 1/4 inch of teeth showing on the box.

Oh and my 1.5 inch flex pipe gets reduced to 1 at the sump as well and the flow rate is still at around 900 like he said it would be without the reduction.

email the guys at gl*******s they will be helpful!! P.S. you will love the box such a sweet little think compared to the siphon boxes... gl*******s is the way to go... im about to drill out my aquapod 24 and setup a little nano tank.

What pump are you using? And would there be any difference in running PVC instead of flex pipe? I know in probably over thinking but this will be my first drilled or plain old overflow for that matter.
