I would stay away from the ray. A 125 isn't quite big enough for them and they will eat any invert they can get their mouth on, especially shrimp. Also, the amount of food you have to feed it to keep it healthy will make it tough to have a nice reef tank. Too many nutrients going into your tank.

Yes, they are cool. I'm pretty sure the tank is big enough for a couple of diff tangs. Everybody loves th Yellow and the Regal tang as well.

Some Cardinals would be cool too. I really like the Pajama Cadinals.

Tank is looking great! Water is cleared up and the lighting is amazing.

It appears I have a small plant of some kind growing in the sand. Not sure what it is yet. Its about 1/4" tall with two shoots. I am contemplating pulling it out but figure, I will wait till it gets a little bigger to try and identify what it is.

And the lights were hung by the reef tank with care...

We hung the lights today and got all the timers set up. Once fully cycled the DT is scheduled to run 10 hours on blue and 8 hours on White/Blue. I am hoping the 1st and last hour being only Blue actinic will help mimic sunrise and sunset.

A 14w 6500k light was added to the sump on a timer that runs when the DT lighting is off. Chaeto will be added in a week or so. Any recomendations on when this should be added?

We have added some additional live Rock that we got at the LFS last Friday. I have seen a light increase in amonia but still less than .25 and no Nitrite or Nitrate present. I am wondering if the rock we started with cycled in the tote durring the couple of weeks it was there???

I would add the chaeto when you start to see nitrates rise. Just my .02

Merry Chistmas and happy holidays everyone.

We have been monitoring the water for a couple of weeks now using API test kits. The ammonia and nitrite never really spiked and so, I am wondering if thier is enough bioload for a proper cycle. The ammonia went up this week to.5 ppm with the addition of 2 fish (green cromis and yellow tail damsel) but is now going down and is almost at 0. No nitrite has been detected.

    pH 8.2
Ammonia >.25ppm (highest level seen has been about .5ppm which was about 4 days ago)
Nitrite 0 (every test has been at 0)
Nitrate >5ppm (today is the first test that we have seen any nitrate at all)
    Phosphate 0ppm
