    +1.

pH, alk, and calcium are the most important.

Magnesium controls all three of those do I guess that would also be important.

Any kits with all of this?

And, can someone explain a "wet" and "dry" skim?

Wet skim is a lighter, thinner and more waterier skimmate. You will have a tea - coffee color skimate. Dry skimming pulls out much less water, and results in what looks like a green/brown poo. :p Neither will actually pull out 'more' of the waste, as it is coming from the same water source. The reasons I chose to wet skim over dry skim is (1)most nano skimmers tend to wet skim and (2) a wet skimmate is easier to clean, does not seem to get dirty as often, and (3) I feel this is great when you do daily water changes of small amounts (apposed to large weekly or monthly changes).

I got the API (master?) foundation test kit for pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. I recently purchased the Red Sea Pro test kit for Mag/cal/alk. It's easy to use, nice quality, comes in a nice box and is good for 75/75/60 tests.
