Will spending many days of just hanging there, it finally started to work it's way down like a repeller on a rope and settled in this spot, when I got home from work it was no longer attached to it's string. It's still in the same location with it's polyps upward. It seems to have found a home on it's own. Will it grow a new skeleton and continue to grow?

My Frogspawn is getting ready to drop another head. He has a nice cone shaped end making it easy to find a hole to put it in. :)

That's awesome. I didn't know they reproduced that way.

I didn't either and not sure if that's what it's doing. I haven't had any confirmation if anyone has had this happen with them.

I've had the same thing happen with hammers and Favias. There are a few pieces in the frag tank that reproduced this way. The Favia's seem to do it when they run out of room to grow, like over a ledge. The hammer, no idea why. They don't look to0 fresh while they are doing it, but they tighten back up when they let go of the piece.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Very cool and nicely documented, thank you.

Throws a wrench into polyp bail out, and keeps it interesting.

I had a bubble coral bail and start regrowing skeleton. Your spawn may do the same.
