All reef tanks should have pods, it makes for a healthier ecosystem. As far as the scooter try pellets. My mandarin and scooter eat about 20-30 pellets a day each and are very fat and happy. I've had them both over a year.

The scooter died weeks ago Dennis. He went down along with the one of my clowns.

Sorry to hear that. But give your tank a chance to grow some pods. They are a great natural food for lots of fish, other than mandarins and scooter blennies. If you. Have hermit crabs and empty snail shells for them. Try pilling them up in the back corners of the tank. The pods will inhabit the shells and be away from the fish when inside them. But pods will be around it. And give the fish some hunting spots.

^^ Good idea. I just moved my tank and it's back up and running. My LFS gives away free pods with 10gal or more RO/Saltwater purchases, so I'm headed out there today.

You can also use filter sponge. If you put a rock to keep it on the bottom or shells. They can climb in the honeycomb of the sponge.

I use new life spectrum, ocean nutrition formula 1&2. They also love PE mysis and reef nutrition beta brine.
