    It kept its rigidity out of the water, will do some research into photosynthetic gorgonians though if any one had a scientific name it would greatly help

    Then yeah, it might be a Gorgonian.

    I'd say the Genus is either Eunicea (my guess) or Muricea. I have no idea as to the species.

    Your title "free soft coral, fast grower", your picture, it all points to a Kenya IMO. Once this grows bigger, and it will, the base will become much larger. I had the exact same growth pattern from mine when I was fragging them.

    It's a gorgonian. Even a small Kenya tree has a pretty thick stalk.

    thank you for the input, thats a real nice Gorgonia civiccars. if it is a kenya tree at the rate its growing we will find out soon enough of the stalk fattens, im still leaning on the gorgonian side though.

    Definitely not a Kenya. Mine has been multiplying and even the smallest of the buds have a pretty thick stalk and not as many branches like that.

    It looks more like a gorgonian to me.
