Hello 3reef this is my first of many posts to come... I have been very interested in marine fish tanks for the last 2 months now, and I came to realize how expensive it is, so I put together a plan that I need some help with. My plan is to frag on a small home tank level (40 gallon coral tank) to be able to cover my costs and be able to buy a reef tank. To do this I need a little bit of help. If you guys could answer some or all of these following questions it would be a great help. Thanks a lot,
    Ebeg1234 ;D

Q1. Coral tank or regular tank
    Q2. Plugs or rocks
    Q3. Hard or softies
    Q4. List of Supplies
    Q5. Licenses
    Q6. Selling outlets
Q7. Recommended setup, and recommended coral species

    Once again thanks,
    Ebeg1234

Do you have any saltwater experience?
If not, your best starting point in my opinion might be some good books.
The Reef Aquarium, Vol. 3, 1 and 2.
    and/or
The Conscientious Marine Aquarist: A Commonsense Handbook for Successful Saltwater Hobbyists

    1. Frag tank
    2. I like my corals on rocks, but I don't mind frag plugs, either.
    3. Hard corals usually grow slower than softies, but will make you more money per piece. You could try both. That way, you'll have more sales.
    4. Tank (Obviously), fragging kit, test kits, a sump would be helpful, fragging gloves (For Zoas and Palys), a good camera if you want to post pictures online, strong lighting, and a frag rack (You can make it out of eggcrate. A good way to have more work room is to make it multi leveled, so that less light demanding corals could be placed lower in the tank). That's all I can think of at the moment.
    5. Depends on where you live
    6. Ebay (It can get quite expensive with shipping), Craigslist, and local reef clubs.
    7. A tank with good lighting, flow, and filtration.

I would try fragging SPS if it were me, get something like poccillapora or birdsnest, one of the fastest growing corals under good conditions.
