    i have seen regular ceramic tile used but i never used them because i dont like how they looked. i'm going to go and take another look at lowes for the tiles your talking about

    I like to use what I call putty patties for my chalices. I buy some cheap JB waterweld, mix it all together, and mold it into the shape I want. I then let it cure for 48 hours if it is a thick patty just to make sure everything is cured on the inside. Cheap, allows you to make an shape or size you want, and gets covered in coralline quickly.
