Be more careful. Mine has stung me a few times. For the most part not a problem.

Next time, immerse your hand in hot water up to 115F. Be careful not to burn yourself.

I know this is late.....but I figure I will post this just in case anybody else ever gets stung!

Many years ago I got hit by a lionfish that I was trying to rescue out of the back of a sump. He fins got me on 3 finger in the cuticles! At first I was like oww! Then it was like OMG cut my hand off! I was at my mothers house who called the LFS and there was somebody there that knew what to do.

The best thing is it immerse your hand in the hottest water you can tolerate and leave it under there for a while. It will help the pain quite a bit. Then I would recommend taking a benadryl just in case you are one of the few people that are actually allergic to them. Make sure you clean that site and keep an eye on it as sometimes they can get infected. Keep it clean with hydrogen peroxide and triple antibiotic ointment.

Yes, rabbit fish, lion fish are venoumous. It will not kill an average joe, however you will wish you are dying. Where you run into big trouble is if you are allergic to them.

I think I was allergic to it and was lucky that I popped a couple benadryl when it happened. I became very diaphoretic and had emesis with it. The pain last a good 15 hours and I did get an infection on one of my fingers. Being the good nurse I am (LOL....) I did lance it myself (DO NOT DO!!!)
