Ocean Fertilization 'Fix' For Global Warming Discredited By New Research

basically some of the geniuses incharge of the environment are trying to fix the co2 problem buy causing huge algae blooms in the oceans. they are going to achieve this by dumping massive amount fertilizers (mainly iron) in the oceans. is it just me that thinks this is a bad idea.

btw huge portions of reefs have been destroyed from fertlizer run off.

I hear they are also trying to get photoplankton blooms to happen by using giant tubes to bring up colder water with more nutrients. They said it would reduce co2 or somthing of that nature

I saw a program on the Science Channel (I think) where they tried to do just that. It failed because the tubes collapsed/broke.

I would say they had very limited success rather than moderate success. From what I remember, they could just barely prove that the concept worked by the time the experiment was complete? My memory fails me these days though so I could be wrong :)

well it was narrowed down to part failure. there was some but limited evidence that supported there claim. But yea it was a shot in the dark.
