I got my first SPS coral today, its some type of green acro. My question is if I need to light acclimate it to my tank which is a 60g mixed reef? I have a 4 bulb T5HO odyssea fixture with stock bulbs so its not that much light and I placed the coral in high flow about 6inches from the surface. Is this good? I added the coral after the DT lights were off and just want to make sure he won't bleach tomorrow. Besides that he is doing well and already has great PE

I'm guessing the store you bought it from kept it under metal halide lighting?

You should light acclimate everything as a rule of thumb. It's just a good habit to get into.

Sounds like you did very well adding him with the lights off - keep an eye on him and move lower if necessary. Most stores keep the corals under weaker lights than most of us have. At least the stores I frequent anyway.

Okay I will do that, I think they had it under either a 400w or 250w metal halide with 2x54w T5HO

if they had it under a 400 halide then i would say to leave everything like it is..i would however keep it in the middle portion of the tank...acros are somewhat delicate corals, somewhat..they like less nutrient rich water..
