I am presuming that when a Xenia frag shrivels up to nothing, it is dead. So, with a heavy heart and a pouty frown, I am announcing my first failure as a reef aquarist. It's dead Jim.

    Thanks for the chuckle.

And sorry to hear you lost one. Always a bad day when that happens. Karma for your loss.

I too lost a xenia as my first dead coral. Hoping someone has a frag of the stuff, as all my corals as of now are doing well. Clove polyps getting larger every day. Leather doubling in size by the month. Zoas finally repopulating the once almost barren rock. (even had a play pop up :) )

Sorry to hear. Like Bill Cosby says, you can replace it with another one just like it. Like an ex-boss of mine said, you can hire another with a bigger smile for less money.

    Life goes on. :)

Actually if a Xenia frag just shrivels up it might be Okay because when they die they MELT and turn into a pile of nasty slime. I have had a stalk or two shrink down to almost nothing an come back just fine. Now I am not saying it is fact but just that in my experience this is what happens.

Hmmmm, then McCoy may have been a little presumptuous in his diagnosis. I will check it again. It was sooooooo small though.
