Can't wait to see that light mounted with some FTS shots. Great start.

Nice. Next to rimless tanks, cube rimless tanks are sexy.

Looks like 30x30x30 it actually 117 gallons. I was thinking about what you said in retards to the return and wondered why the cube at the aquarium on display and sold had no overflow box, just an 90 degree elbow facing up with a plastic screen to prevent fish/inverts from falling in. :-/

as far as the 90 degree elbow with a screen I have this sort of set up as does my lfs, I would not recommend this it seems easier but in the long run a C2C overflow is the way to go. You get better surface skimming and the whole setup is quieter. Mine >SLURPS< every now and again. Those lights are Sick BTW.

B/C that is the way many people do it!!

IMH,EO- the water skimming interface should be as large as possible.

Many nice systems have Coast to Coast (ctc), or near ctc overflows.
Ctc means as wide as possible, as in the whole back, or at least side of the tank.

I hope other experienced people on this subject chime in here! (on RC they would, and 3R is a better site!)

FYI, my DIY overflow has 20+ inches of linear surface skimming.
The 6.25 OD pipe, and take the circumference of it.

But since you're drilled, you really may want to glue a wide box inside the DT that skims the water, and sends it to the hole to the sump. It would be an upgrade over a pipe only, very little surface skimming, etc.

    Other peeps thought on this?

This is how I have mine and I love it I can control the height of water this way. I'm not sure of any pros or cons but I like mine.

That is a con my is kinda loud as well at times. One pro I can think of is you don't have a box taking up any space

I definitely have some thinking to do when it comes down to the drain pipe. I like the thought of keeping it as minimal as possible but I also want to keep it as quiet as possible. I did pick up the tank last night. Honestly, I think it's beautiful. I love the black silicone and bracing as well. Since I have the stand to build and house to buy, it is currently on a furniture blanket on the garage floor. Hopefully not for long! Here is a quick pic I took on my way out to get breakfast.
