    Amazing article.Iv had some macro growing that i could not i.d.
    Now i know its a Halimeda variety?!? Does anyone have any experience with this macro?

    It is a real good macro for nitrate and phosphate export, just trim it every once in a while. If it goes "sexual" it will use up all the oxygen in your tank and kill just about everything.

    Wow thats not good.
    When to trim and how much?
    Theres not much yet.3 small patches have cropped up in
    different places in the tank.Good I guess since i dont have a fuge
    yet and im battling some cyano and GHA.

    Looks like the micronesica Halimeda

    I would let them double or triple in size then remove one. If you see any of the petals go white with green balls on it remove the whole plant right away. That is the sign it is going sexual. Or you could wait until you see one start to go sexual. If one goes you will most likely need to remove them all.

    O.k> so Im looking for green balls as a bad sign.Otherwise just clip off the growing tops to trim every so often?

    Actually remove a branch as close to the base as possible.
