    I'd like to keep a maxima clam in my 29g. I will have the same amount of light, at 96 watts total. Though I may add LED's too.

    Honestly, you can even keep clams under PC bulbs when close to the surface. You can actually get more par from some t5ho fixture/bulbs than some halides.

    This is my crocea under PCs. It has colored better under the t5ho fixture I am running now, but it is possible with things other than halides.
