Actually, since I wasnt able to make it to macna last yr, watching it on mr saltwatertank sold me. I had to have them. Don't even own a vortech as yet. When I recover from the slap in the face from these LEDs, i'd get myself a pair of MP60s;D

I was over a dude's house in Missouri and he had 10 of them over his tank. Wait until you see the thunderstorm mode on them. Then you are gonna get really sick over them.

How to hang?

So I want to get the units hung over my tank. I did not buy the hanging kit from ecotech but the fixtures both came with "eyelets" in which I can thread the cables through to hang it. I plan to use a standard suspension kit available at the hardware.
My question is, the ceiling is gypsum/dry wall, there are no studs in the ceiling over my tank. Can I still hang the fixtures without risk of the screws coming out?

10 wow! I checked out the thunderstorm mode already just not over my tank as yet. I love it. But I know it will freak the fish out . I'm still excited to see how the corals react to it.

Do the fans in the unit stay on all the time?

 

Ordered my and they came in last night, will be hanging them this weekend. Did much research between the AI and these. Don't think you can go wrong except for the price.

 

Oh yeah price is a bummer but I'm very happy with them. Mine were supposed to go up tonight but Im a bit skeptical about the integrity of my ceiling. Will get them up by Sunday tho. I actually decided to change around my entire aquarium, rock work, fish and corals.
