You also told 1.0reef that a 6 gallon was too small for a BTA. I think you should get your eye in with some M. Digitata since you have not kept SPS or clams according to the OP.

i was already thinking of just doing water changes instead of a skimmer, but if i get a skimmer thats not high end and do water changes will that be good enough?

k so this is what i think ill start off with

    all small frags

    superman montipora
    watermelon montipora
    rose stylopora
    birdsnest
    misc. acros

i think ill go ahead and do a birdsnest and just try it out. see how things go down

    Woah!
    Start with digitata
then see if you can hold params stable, if you can try
    birdsnest
Then go for the acros once you are confident.
I wouldn't "start out" with acros. In such a small system it will be hard to provide them with optimimum conditions because of param swings. You should also give it 3 months before starting any of these.

I'm saying you've never kept SPS or a clam so get your eye in with some easier ones first.
Going with those corals as a first SPS is like playing an instrument without ever having any previous practices. All I'm saying is, try the easy stuff so you know what to expect when you go for acros.
