I set my freshwater planted up in about 30 minutes lol I have yet to need an algae scraper in the months I've had it. No fish loss either

30 days is a good chunk. Fresh or saltwater... Sounds like a cool contest big al.

Now you're thinking! Personally, I find that 30 days is plenty of time to cycle a tank, especially one that is only going to hold a few small critters. Great contest idea. I only wish I had the time and funds to participate!

I am looking into having one at my office. I need to get permission from the boss first. If a go, it really should be interesting as I work on a boat these days. No wave-maker required. :) I was staring at the overflow wondering if I can pull this off with the gentle sometimes large swaying that occurs here even though it is permanently docked. Could be interesting!

Would you do salt or a fresh planted tank?

Salt. I have a nice supply of NSW outside. :)
Anyway, I need an excuse to buy this little tank. I think it is cool.
