He means you do want a small amount of phosphates in the tank. It is quite common to see ULNS have their colonies either stop growing or even start receding. While you don't want to have excess nutrients in the tank, you need some ;)

How would I go about doing that safely?

I had cut down my feeding so I could get rid of the algae in my tank.. So either my corals live, or I have no algae?

it's keeping it from going too high or spiking up.

How many fish do you have? Could be as simple as adding one or two more.

Shows in my sig.. two juvenile clowns, coral beauty, shrimp + goby pair. I ordered a school of blue/green chromis, a brachiosaurus blenny, and a Blue Lyretail Gudgeon Dartfish from my LFS. I don't think they'll be able to get those last two, but we'll see! I should get a call today or tomorrow to let me know what's in

Missed your sig, since it only shows on your first post of the page! So yes, I think you are actually lightly stocked for that size tank, which very well could be the issue (or at least a contributing factor). Hopefully the new additions end up helping your corals as well :)

I've always known I was lightly stocked.. I just wanted to wait to get fish til I got more coral, and I wanted to wait to get more coral til the ones I have are doing well. But yes, let's hope so!

Another thing.. When I first got the chaeto, it grew a lot for about a week. After that, it stopped growing

I'll start feeding more. Called my LFS and they said they could only get the chromis. Bummer. So I'm getting 6 of those, and picking them up thursday or friday.

Another thing that's really not helping my big bird is that vermetid snails are growing on it..
