what did you mean when you said your RBTA "blew itself" - did it just roll around or did it get caught in a powerhead? Just curious....

LOL, being fictitious really. He went on a walk, found a wonderful new home where a powerhead blew his tentacles all over the SPS... I just removed the split from this RTBA and sold it for the same reason. I did not think I would have a problem with this animal for the simple reason he had not moved in well over a year. Until last night of course. I would remove him too except my wife has grown very fond of him and the tomato clown that hosts it.

That coral is a goner. Frag as far away from the dead stuff and hope for the best.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but I would frag a piece and keep the rest in the tank.

If you do this and don't take all of the good, live coral you can; you run the risk (a high one) of the entire colony passing. If you frag well into the good tissue, you can save a lot of that coral. Leave in tact, the coral is going to die. The entire thing will die if the good is not cut off of it. I promise, there isn't any maybe or maybe not here. I don't want to see the entire coral die because we want to "wait and see".

Good advice. I ended up having something important come up and had to take off last night, not being able to frag it. This morning, completely dead.
