My fromia did really well for 6 months until I redid my sump and put in a huge skimmer. Fromia started to get necrotic from the tip of the arms back. So I don't know what it was eating, but once I started skimming better, I started removing whatever it was eating. I eventually pulled it once it became clear the situation wasn't going to get any better.

I do, the red really pops out. It's been in my tank for about 4 months. Seems to be doing fine. 28 gallon cube with about 50lbs of live rock.

Unfortunately, it can take six to twelve months for a sea star to starve, and once it starts showing signs of malnutrition, it's usually too far gone to save it. I would highly recommend target-feeding with fresh meaty seafoods; with a little luck, you might even stumble onto something it can thrive on...
